Thoughts on Scripture and life
for the glory of Jesus Christ
The Sufficiency of Scripture: What Does That Mean?
The doctrine of the sufficiency of Scripture teaches that through His Word, God has revealed all that is needed (1) to know Him through the salvation received by faith in Jesus Christ and (2) to live a faithful, godly life, fully equipped for fruitful service.
George Müller: Rooted in the Trustworthiness of God
What would it look like to trust your Heavenly Father to provide for all your needs? What would it be like to believe that if you ask, He will give; that if you seek, you will find; that if you knock, He will open (Matt 7:7-11)?
It would look like George Müller, the pastor, orphan-lover, and missionary from the 19th century. He was a man who lived confident that his Heavenly Father would always provide.
Questions and Truths on Assurance of Faith
How well do you know the Bible’s teaching on assurance of faith?
Doubt and the Unfailing Work of God
Christians are probably all different sized and shaped “mustard trees” of faith, with many branches still in process, and with many branches that need pruning. We bear that fruit of the Spirit over here abundantly, but not so much that fruit over here. But that doesn’t make us better or us worse. We are all in the middle of our journeys, traveling to heaven, still growing our little mustard trees of faith.
To Those Who Doubt Their Own Salvation
Learn much of the Lord Jesus. For every look at yourself, take ten looks at Christ. He is altogether lovely. Such infinite majesty, and yet such meekness and grace, and all for sinners, even the chief! Live much in the smiles of God. Bask in His beams. Feel His all-seeing eye settled on you in love, and repose in His almighty arms.
